Construction Mission Team

You can make a difference.

If you have expertise in construction, cleaning, electrical or plumbing repair, or in other areas that could help us improve the clinic, you would be the perfect addition to our construction team. If you have any questions about the requirements of the trip, please contact Dottie Robinett at (863)699-4336 for more information.

What will the Construction Mission Team do?

Being part of a Mission Team requires flexibility, resourcefulness, creativity, and a positive spirit. While much of our previous focus during visits has been on providing needed medical care, this year brings new opportunities to reach lives in a lasting way through construction efforts and improvements to the clinic in Sanchez, Dominican Republic.

A small clinic in a bustling little town, Hospital Dr. Alberto Gautreaux depends on the local government for needed repairs and improvements, many of which go unanswered or are postponed for lenthy periods of time.  Meanwhile, the clinic is the only source of medical care for the people of Sanchez and surrounding areas.  During past mission trips, the patients would travel by foot, bike, or motorbike sometimes from very long distances to be seen by the medical misison team.  Once at the clinic, they are completely dependent on family members who have accompanied them to provide recovery care, nourishment, linens, and personal needs.  The clinic is open to the outside air, is not cooled, and does not have working plumbing available in the building. It is a building in great need of loving attention, maintenance and repair.

Costs.

Each mission participant is responsible for all travel, accommodation, food and personal expenses related to the mission trip. It is estimated that the total expense for each participant will be between $1200-$1600. This cost can vary due to airfare and other expenses. If you are employed by the hospital, you may consider signing up for payroll deductions to spread this cost over a period of time.
