Faith.

Being a part of a medical mission team requires a healthy dose of hope. Because the conditions in the field are always uncertain and subject to change, the medical missionary has to think fast on their feet, get creative with resources, and stay positive at all times.

Compassion.

Working in the field affords professionals with many great opportunities and experiences spiritually, personally, emotionally, and professionally. While the people we serve may not speak our language or understand our medical terminology, they will never forget the way we healed their loved one or changed their life forever.

Resourcefulness.

At the clinic in Sanchez, Dominican Republic, medical supplies for surgery will be provided by Medical Missions International, and also some donated by Florida Hospital. Air conditioning is not found throughout the clinic except in the operating room. Running water isn't available in the clinic, though efforts are underway to make use of a rain-catching system. Power is limited by the local government and can be turned off at any time after 4pm.

Costs.

Each mission participant is responsible for all travel, accommodation, food and personal expenses related to the mission trip. It is estimated that the total expense for each participant will be between $1200-$1600. This cost can vary due to airfare and other expenses. If you are employed by the hospital, you may consider signing up for payroll deductions to spread this cost over a period of time.

Travel Information.

Travel to the Dominican Republic requires a passport. Make sure you apply for your passport (or renew it if needed) before making travel arrangements.
