What to Expect
You may have seen your primary physician for joint pain, or have been referred to an orthopedic surgeon who will provide an evaluation of your range of motion or order an MRI or CAT scan for a closer look. Your doctor may then decide on a course of treatment for you such as an operation.
It is encouraged for you to attend a Bone, Joint and Spine Seminar before or after surgery to learn more about what to expect, your physical therapy options and how to improve your recovery time. You will also meet our Care Coordinator, Nurse Christene Griffin, who will be at your side every step of the way.
Depending on your surgery, you may stay as a patient on our Orthopedic unit to recover where you will receive excellent pain management. Then you may be transferred to Florida Hospital Wauchula's inpatient therapy program or an outpatient center to begin physical therapy within 24-48 hours. Following your surgery and the start of physical therapy, you'll return to your primary doctor for a follow-up appointment.
