Hospitalist Program

Excellent Care During Your Hospital Stay.

What is a Hospitalist?

Hospitalists are physicians who specialize in caring for patients while they are in the hospital. Hospitalists care for hospitalized patients at the Sebring, Lake Placid and Wauchula facilities. They are available around the clock and are dedicated solely to the care and treatment of hospitalized patients.

How Does a Hospitalist Program Work?

The Hospitalist sees you every day and supervises your treatment while you are a patient at the hospital. This doctor is available to you and your family to answer your questions and to discuss your care.

What is the Relationship Between the Hospitalist & My Primary Care Physician?

The two doctors work together. When you are admitted to the hospital, your primary care physician and Hospitalist will discuss your current condition and any relevant information from your medical history. When you leave the hospital, a summary of your hospital stay is sent to your primary care physician. The Hospitalist will make arrangements for any prescriptions you may need when you are discharged. After discharge, you will follow-up with your primary care physician.

What If I Don't Have a Primary Care Physician?

The Hospitalist will refer you to a doctor who may become your primary care physician. Your Hospitalist will contact the new doctor to give him or her information about your medical history and recent hospitalization.
