Year in Review - Great Things are Happening at Florida Hospital
Welcome Back Winter Friends!
While you were gone, here’s what improvement Florida Hospital made to provide you with the best health care in the Heartland.

Thank You
Thank you for making us the most preferred hospitals in the Heartland. According to recent consumer quality ratings, you made us your top choice in all areas including best doctors, best nurses, best patient safety, best heart care, best orthopedics, best OB, best home health care, best outpatient surgery and best overall quality. We appreciate your confidence in us and will continue to match your high standards of care.

1000 Cardiac Catherization Milestone
Since February 2009 when the center opened, the H&VC has performed more than 1000 successful cardiac catheterizations, or angioplasties. The operation entails opening a blocked artery with a balloon-tipped catheter and holding it open by inserting a tiny metal cage, called a stent, into the blood vessel. The center also surpassed the 90-minute national standard of “door to balloon” time by doing it in 45 minutes. No one can stop a heart attack faster than we can.

Sebring Emergency Department
Florida Hospital Sebring’s emergency department has just completed a two-phase total renovation which increased the number of patient rooms and improved interior design aesthetics leading to better patient care and less waiting. The new ED went from 14 to 32 private rooms all with private restrooms, including specially-designed areas for trauma, pediatrics, and psychiatric patients. The improved design includes calm soothing colors, noise-absorbing rubber flooring, landscape artwork and new waiting areas.

Medication Dispenser
Our new Talyst JVM tablet dispensing machine combined with our Positive Patient Identification Program now makes it impossible to gives patients the wrong medication, at the wrong interval or at the wrong dose. The Talyst dispense individually-wrapped does of medications in clear, plastic envelopes which contain the patient’s name, dosage, lot number, expiration date and barcode. The nurse, utilizing the PPI Program, then confirms the patient’s information and scans the barcode before giving the medication eliminating medication errors and increasing patient safety.

Breast MRI
Florida Hospital has added another diagnostic tool in their fight breast cancer. While women over 40 should have an annual diagnostic mammogram, sometimes a second look is needed. If a suspicious spot or area appears on your mammogram, then the new 1.5 Tesla Toshiba MRI gives our board certified radiologists a second look at tumors or calcifications featuring a higher quality image without compressing the breast tissue.

Blessed Beginnings Birthing Center
The Jarrett Family Blessed Beginnings Birthing Center is the newest arrival to Florida Hospital Sebring. Families are welcomed into a soothing spa-like atmosphere with soft linens, comfy chairs for rocking and a convertible sofa for sleepovers. Ultramodern technology like wireless monitors allowing you to move around during labor, comforting gel beds that split for ease of delivery, in-room flat screen tvs and wi-fi connectivity makes it feel like home. Personal birth coordinator and certified lactation consultants are there to help throughout the delivery.

Wireless Fetal Monitors for Moms on the Move
Studies show that moms who walk during labor shorten their delivery time. Our wireless monitors allow the OB staff to keep a close eye on both mom and baby, while giving mom the freedom to roam. This smart phone-sized device has leads that stick to mom’s belly and carefully track/record both the maternal and baby heartbeats separately, as well as contractions, for as long as 24-hours. This information instantly transmits to the nurses’ station where our OB team charts the labor progress and baby’s well being. And the Jarrett Family Blessed Beginnings Birthing Center is the only place in the nation that offers this technology.

Center for Bone, Joint & Spine
Want an active lifestyle without the joint pain? Visit the Center for Bone, Joint and Spine at Florida Hospital. They offer comprehensive, patient-centered service with a personal care coordinator just for you. Our emergency department works closely with our local EMS, to help identify and begin treating your stroke even before you arrive at the hospital. Florida Hospital is proud to be the only designated primary stroke center in the Heartland. At Florida Hospital, they’re champs at fighting strokes!
